Viral TikTok Hair Trends

Viral TikTok Hair Trends

We’re sure you’re familiar with TikTok, whether you scroll for recipes, home DIY hacks, outfit inspiration, babies making friends with dogs, dogs making friends with babies, or dancing trends – the app has the world hooked on its short and snappy videos. It’s taken over many industries, and the hair and beauty sector is no different.

That is why, in today’s blog, we’re jumping into the world of TikTok and taking a look at some of the video app’s biggest and most viral hair trends. We’re talking about big volume curls, two-tone hair, and curtain fringes – but with a twist. As distributors of professional hair products, we wanted to put our own twist on these viral trends by discussing how you can recreate these looks in a professional setting. So, do bubble braids work in a hair salon? Let’s find out.

Why Do People Turn to TikTok for Their Hair and Beauty Tips?

There are many reasons why someone may pick up their phone and head to TikTok for their hair tips, and number one on that list is ease. We are spoiled for choice when it comes to getting professional hair advice for free, as many stylists and industry professionals have taken to the app to dish out tips, tricks, and hacks. Additionally, TikTok has allowed everyone to join in, so all over the world, hairstylists and clients alike have been sharing their favourite styles, colours, cuts, and fails nonetheless.

We have been honoured with some truly brilliant trends from this plethora of enthusiasts sharing their love of hair.

Curtains Are In – We Never Thought We’d See the Day!

Yes, you heard right, curtains are back but not as you may remember them. So if you’re thinking Peter Andre in Mysterious Girl, you’re wrong. Teenagers on TikTok have been helping to bring back the 90s and early 00s with low-rise jeans, hot pink tracksuits, and of course, curtains. Often paired with long-layers, curtain bangs are incredibly popular at the minute, thanks to TikTok, and we couldn’t be happier.

To achieve this look on yourself or a client wanting to follow the trends, we recommend using a B.R.U.S.H heated hairbrush. Pressed with argan oil, macadamia oil, and keratin, this heated hairbrush is like no other on the market and will give you those bouncy curtain bangs that frame the face beautifully.

Turn the Volume Up

Can you hear us? Turn the volume up and add some lift to your clients’ hair to stay up to date with another of TikTok’s viral hair trends. People all over the globe have been backcombing, hair spraying, and frazzling their locks with excessive heat to get the big-volume look, and that’s just not necessary.

To achieve volume for clients in your salon, make sure you’re using the right shampoo and conditioner. We have an incredible range of salon quality hair products, including professional shampoos and conditioners available here at Salon Business Solutions, including our Nine Yards Go Loud Volume Shampoo and Nine Yards Big Noise Volume Conditioner. These Nine Yards hair care products go hand in hand to help you create some noise in your salon and give your clients the bouncy, voluminous, TikTok-approved hair of their dreams.

Two-tone Hair for Those Who Can Never Make a Decision

We’ve all had clients who spent weeks going from natural brunette to beautiful blonde in summer just to change their minds when winter rolled back around. Two-tone hair is the perfect middle ground to keep everyone happy throughout the year. This trend started in 2020 and has come a long way since. In the beginning, people were bleaching the front section of their hair at home during lockdown – it’s okay, we forgive you. Now, thanks to the re-opening of hair salons, rather than bleaching and then praying the purple shampoo will work, many brunettes have chosen to lighten the front section, which is a much more natural take on the fad. It’s a gorgeous look for summer and perfect for those who can never decide on their hair colour.

Accessories: More is More

If TikTok has taught us anything, it’s that more is more. More volume, more colour, and more accessories. If you’re looking for a funky hairstyle that’s sure to turn heads, then you’re guaranteed to find it on this app. One of these styles is bubble braids, named appropriately due to the bubble-like appearance of the hair after it has been styled. To achieve this, all you need to do is put a section of your hair in clear elastic and repeat on the same area of your hair, leaving around an inch in-between each bobble. Once you have these in place, you can mess around with the individual braid, pulling on the hair in-between the bobbles to create a rounder shape. Some choose to middle-part their hair and create bubble braids in two pigtails, whereas others would create multiple smaller bubble braids all over their head.

Another accessory trend that took over TikTok was claw clips. As the 90s become revived in younger generations, so do the hairstyles, and we’re thankful that a claw clip is viewed as trendy again. Whilst we may not be seen sporting these chunky accessories on a night out, we think they should be every hairstylists’ staple while they’re at work. Not only are they stylish, but they’re convenient and allow you to have your hair out of the way while you work your magic on your clients. Pick up a few in different colours and colour-coordinate with your outfit for some extra trendy points.
